Supporting Our Charity Of The Year -

Birmingham St Mary's Hospice

As part of the way we work with the local community, we are supporting Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice to support families at end of life. Whether you or a loved one are living with a life-limiting illness, we’re here to help. You can donate to the hospice directly from here, or with our Classic funeral package, set up a web page dedicated to the memory of your loved one and have your own ‘donate’ button. About Birmingham St Mary's Hospice

St Mary's Hospice

Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice provides expert care and support for people living with life-limiting illness and for their families and loved ones. We’re there at every step of the journey: helping people live well with their illness, through dying, death and bereavement, for as long as we are needed.

The Hospice offers a range of services in people’s homes, in the community and at the Hospice itself. Our services support families and carers too, throughout a person’s illness and, after their loved one has died, with bereavement support for as long as it is needed.

Day Hospice services are also provided, which help people to live well with their illness. People can take part in a programme of workshops, relaxation sessions and therapies. Our Space to Breathe group helps people manage breathlessness and there is also a social group. All Day Hospice services are running in a virtual format during the COVID pandemic.

We are also a teaching hospice, training health and social care professionals, GPs, nurses and medical students in palliative care and end of life, via seminars, courses and placements. We have also started to provide training with care homes and our Homelessness Support Service aims to empower third sector organisations and NHS teams to recognise the palliative, end of life care and bereavement support needs of people who are homeless across Birmingham – and to develop the skills to support them.

All of Birmingham St Mary’s services are free of charge to everyone that uses them, including patients, family members, carers and loved ones. We need to raise a minimum of £8.1 million each year to fund our vital care. Just under 40% of this comes from the NHS, the remaining £4.8 million has to be raised through voluntary donations.

There are many ways to support the Hospice, whether that’s making a donation, taking part or organising an event, shopping in one of our 16 charity shops, or becoming a volunteer. However you choose to get involved, you can make a real difference for local people and their families.
