Funeral Costs: What Are Our Charges?

Funeral Costs: At Thomas Furber we are committed to providing our clients the highest standards of professional service at fair prices. We have set out a framework of costs below.

STANDARDISED PRICE LIST

All funeral directors are legally required to publish this Price List for a standardised set of products and services, aiding in Arranging a funeral. This is to help you think through your options and make choices, and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary).

ATTENDED FUNERAL (funeral director’s charges only)

This is a funeral where family and friends have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person at the same time as they attend their burial or cremation.

Taking care of all necessary legal and administrative arrangements

Collecting and transporting the deceased person from the place of death (normally within 15 miles of the funeral director’s premises) into the funeral director’s care

This is a funeral where family and friends may choose to have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person, but they do not attend the burial or cremation itself.

ADDITIONAL FUNERAL DIRECTOR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

This funeral director may be able to supply a range of optional, additional products and services, or to arrange (on your behalf) for a third party to supply them. Examples include:

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.

1 This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.

2 In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.

Additional Items Price List

TERMS OF BUSINESS & DISCLOSURE

  1. In addition to our professional charges, we cover Funeral Costs such as disbursements. For example, these would be Cremation or burial fee, Doctors' fees where applicable, Celebrant or Ministers fees, Church Fees, Burial or Grave Preparation Fees, and such, on your behalf. Where the total estimated account is deemed excessive, we may ask you to make an interim payment (deposit). The deposit asked for is the total of any disbursements (third-party costs made on your behalf, the client).
  2. The final balance is invoiced approximately two days after the funeral service.
  3. We reserve the right to add interest at 2.5% per month on all outstanding accounts that remain unpaid after 4-weeks and any legal and court costs incurred due to non-payment. 
  4. We also reserve the right to add interest of 15% on all outstanding accounts forwarded to your solicitor that remain unpaid after 3-months and any legal and court costs incurred due to non-payment. If you have any problems with payment of your account, please call us on 0121 427 2233.
  5. We accept most methods of payment. Preferred methods are BACs (Bank Transfers), Debit Cards and most Credit Cards, and Cash. We also accept Cheques.


DISCLOSURE OF INTEREST

Thomas Furber & Co. (Thos. Furber & Co. Ltd.) is a Limited Company owned and operated solely by the family. We are not part of any group or co-operative. We do not hold any interests in any other Funeral business. We have no material or financial interest in any price comparison sites, or their pricing given. We are dedicated to transparency in Funeral Costs.
